There are many snoring devices on the market; what makes Sleep Hero better?
The Sleep Hero anti-snoring devices are the only oral appliances on the market today that directly addresses the causes of snoring, such as the tongue or narrow airways.
Sleep Hero is a dedicated sleep lab and unlike other appliances, our products are proven to work in clinical trials. Sleep Hero is also dedicated to using BPA free materials and high quality craftsmanship to ensure comfort.
Is Snoring Harmful?
Snoring prevents you and your partner from entering REM sleep which is not good for your overall health. In addition to sleep problems for both partners, snoring may be symptomatic of OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea), that can lead to Dementia, Alzheimer's or Diabetes.
What Causes Snoring And How Sleep Hero Saves the Night?
When you fall asleep, your muscles relax, and in most cases, your tongue falls back into your throat, constricting and blocking your airway.
The resulting vibration generated by the blocked air causes the known annoying sound - snoring.
To prevent this, your tongue simply needs to be held in place while you sleep, and that’s exactly what Sleep Hero Tongue Shield is designed to do.
How to Use?
1. Place the Tongue Shield in your mouth, it should rest between your front teeth and the lips. The protruding bulb should be slightly outside your mouth and the side with the small notch should be on the bottom.
2. Squeeze the bulb to force out air. Place your tongue in the tube and release the bulb. This creates suction, attaching your tongue to the mouthpiece. Adjust pressure accordingly.
3. To take it off, simply squeeze the bulb.
Will it fit my mouth?
Yes! Sleep Hero Tongue Shied silicone mouthpiece is engineered to fit any mouth.
Can I wash it and What should I wash it with?
Absolutely! The high-quality, medical-grade silicone can be washed and used for months, maybe even years if you maintain it with care.
Just use cold water and a certified cleaning solution. This includes any cleaning product approved for dentures, retainers or sports mouth guards.

If however, you aren’t completely satisfied for any reason, you may return the device within 100 days from the date of purchase for a full Refund.
How Does It Work?
There are multiple causes of snoring, many of which are related to the partial blockage of the airway to and from the lungs by the relaxed tongue or throat tissue.
Tongue Shield helps open up the blocked airway by gently pulling the tongue forward and away from the back of the throat.
The Shield attaches to the tongue by gentle suction and rests on the lips or teeth to keep the tongue slightly forward.
It prevents the restriction to the airway caused by tongue obstruction, which is the main cause of snoring and Obstruction Sleep Apnea (OSA).
Are There Any Side Effects Using a Tongue Shield?
No significant side effects have been identified. There will be some discomfort for the first few nights while you get used to the feeling, which can be a little disconcerting as your mouth will have an unusual object within it.
It can also generate some drooling or, oppositely, a dry mouth which may be disconcerting but manageable if it means a peaceful night for you and your family.
It should take few days for most of the side effects to disappear. If any tongue soreness persists, you should stop using your device for few days and restart after your tongue feels better.
Remember, perseverance is rewarded with snore free nights and rested mornings. :)
Can Sleep Hero Tongue Shield be Used With Dentures?
Yes. Unlike with an MAD, a Tongue Device does not sit on or attach to your teeth and therefore is ideally suited for snorers with dentures.
How Long Does Tongue Shield Last?
Naturally, wear and tear and frequency of use will have an impact on the lifespan of your Tongue Device however, you should expect a minimum of six months and up to two years effective life. Typically you would renew your device every year.
Do I Need To Get A Tongue Shield Professionally Fitted?
No. Tongue Shield is a relatively simple device.
Simply place the device in your mouth. Place your tongue in the opening at the front, and use the devices suction to bring your tongue into the desired forward position to minimize your snoring while you sleep.
Is Tongue Devices Adjustable?
Unlike some of the MAD’s that provide incremental adjustments and could cause jaw and teeth issues and TMJ pain; Tongue Shield by its very design has a single “setting”.
Is Tongue Shield Painful To Wear?
Not usually. There may be some initial discomfort from having the device in your mouth, but experiencing pain would be highly unusual. If you experience pain in any way you should stop wearing the device and email or call us.
For most, it can take a week or so for your tongue to get completely comfortable with the feeling of being held forward with a Tongue Shield.
Tongue Shield Summary
A Tongue Shield Device can often be a good first step to help you or your partner to stop snoring – they are relatively economical and because they are less bulky, they are more comfortable and can suit a wide range of snorers. They are also smaller and less invasive than MAD’s and do not cause TMJ pain or dental issues.
It is really important to talk with your physician as you explore anti snoring devices; sometimes snoring can indicate other health issues that only an experienced medical professional can identify and resolve.
